On any given Sunday, First United Methodist Church welcomes 100 visitors to our worship services; this number increases for special holidays services such as Christmas Eve and Easter.
First Steps
At FUMC our mission is to raise up "engaged disciples" who find the key connections to live out their Christian journey with FUMC as their home church. Our primary entry port is First Steps. Throughout the year we will be holding this three week small group adventure. First Steps helps people make connections with each other, with Pastor Doug, Shera and Craig, and with what is next for their journey at our church. You'll learn how this church works and how to plug in. And you'll make a connection with others who are in a similar place in looking for a church home.
It is important that visitors realize that our church worship is for all ages and that we encourage families to worship together. We want visitors to realize that they are at home here at First United Methodist Church.

How to Join FUMC
Profession of Faith and Baptism
If you have never joined a church before, we will receive you by profession of faith. If you have not been baptized, we will be happy to baptize you. We will ask you to repent of your sin, receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, and if you intend to lead a Christian life. When you answer "I do" to these questions, you have made your profession of faith. We will also ask you to be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, and your service. Your answer is "I will."
Transfer from Another Denomination
We recognize your baptism and profession of faith from your previous denomination. We believe that your coming to join Fist Church is a statement of renewal of your faith in Jesus Christ. We will ask you to be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, and your service. Your answer to this question is "I will." We will notify your previous church of your decision to unite with First Church.
Transfer from Another United Methodist Church
We are happy to receive you by transfer from another United Methodist Church. We believe that your coming to unite with First Church is in itself a statement of renewal of your faith and commitment to Christ and the Church. We will notify your previous church and inform them of your decision to join First Church.
