Dr. Curry came to First Lubbock in June of 2010. He has served churches for over thirty years in a variety of settings including Lubbock, Dallas, and Abilene areas and also in northwest New Mexico. He was born in Lubbock, but he grew up living in various communities on the South Plains. His father was a football coach in Floydada, Big Spring, Iraan, and Slaton.  Dr. Curry finished High School in Seminole, and in 1982 He graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.A. Degree in History and Spanish minor. He received a Master of Divinity degree at Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University in May 1986 and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California in 1996. His dissertation was titled, Leading United Methodist Churches to Growth.

Dr. Curry is married and has four grown children. His wife Kathy is a graduate of Monterey High School and has a B.S. degree through both Texas Tech University and the University of Texas. She has been a licensed physical therapist since 1981. Their chocolate lab, Dude, is a local celebrity.
