“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes ...”  Romans 1:16

The word gospel simply means “good news”. And the good news is this: anyone and everyone can have a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.

About FUMC Missions The Purpose of Missions
The purpose of missions is to build the kingdom of God by taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations, through words (explaining the saving message of the gospel) and actions (serving those in need).
Missions ensures that every person, everywhere, has the opportunity to hear and respond to the saving message of Jesus Christ, and to experience His love in action.

Our Vision for Missions
The missions ministry of First United Methodist Church Lubbock exists to take the saving love of Jesus Christ to people throughout the city of Lubbock, across the United States and around the world.

The purpose of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

At FUMC, we help achieve that purpose through missions programs that reach university students in Eastern Europe, Mayan villages in the mountains of Guatemala, and hundreds of people in need right here in Lubbock.

Participating in missions is an important part of the spiritual experience for every Christian.

Our vision is that every
member of FUMC Lubbock:

1. Understands the Biblical basis for missions, and

2. Deepens their faith by taking an active role in leadership and service in the local and international missions field.
