Evensong at FUMC
Evensong is a peaceful and
reflective service of scripture, psalms, music and prayer. Beautiful
choral music is an
important part of this liturgical form of
worship, and for these services the FUMC Music Department collaborates
with St. Paul's-on-the-Plains
Episcopal Church, Lubbock. The Schola Cantorum choir
is made up of members of
both churches, and other
accomplished singers in our community. Musical
repertoire focuses particularly on
composers of the English
cathedral tradition, such as William Byrd, Thomas Tomkins,
Charles Wood, Herbert
Howells and William Harris.
