YOUNG ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
EXPLORERS
Room 4
Est. 1988
60 Members Ages late 20s, 30s, & 40s

A fun and vivacious group consisting of mostly married couples and parents of young children. Class member teachers cover interesting Bible lessons, usually spanning 4-week time periods. Parties, showers, outings, “prayer golf”, children's sports, supper clubs, and service projects enhance group support.

Gathering time with refreshments, announcements, sharing of praises and concerns, opening prayer, Bible lesson and closing prayer. Bible Study is presented through a team teaching approach. Membership includes both singles and married couples. Monthly fellowships alternate between small group and whole class functions.

This class offers a wide variety of teachers with a wide variety of topics. This is a class of parents with young through teenaged children. Quarterly socials give opportunity for support and nurturing friendships. Class discussion is encouraged and is a strength of the class.

SEEKERS

The Seekers Class welcomes all who are interested in learning about God's Word. Our diverse membership includes teenagers to senior citizens, both single and married. A variety of teachers lead this warm group as we seek to build our relationship with God through discussion and Bible study. Supporting FUMC activities and getting together for a meal every month are just part of the fun.

SEEKERS OF GRACE

Seekers of Grace (SOG) is comprised of young married couples, most with young children, in their 20's and 30's. The class was established in February of 2000 and is currently led by Paul & Kathy Dannevik. Topics of study range from relationships to various Christian-based book studies, with emphasis on small group discussion and class input. They enjoy various social gatherings including a family picnic, dinner at Cagle's Steakhouse, potluck suppers, and a Christmas party, in addition to monthly Girl/Guy Nights Out. SOG are encouraged to actively participate in a wide range of mission projects. Seekers of Grace welcome any couple interested in developing Christian-based friendships in a relaxed, open format and who are interested in striving to make their Christian faith a part of their everyday life.

We are a fun & exciting class of couples . Our study format includes discussion, with wide range of topics including relationships , beliefs, and various other biblical topics. This class enjoys such socials as class parties, golf, guys nights/girls nights, eating out together, softball, retreats and ski trips.

MIDDLE ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES

AGES AND STAGES

Est. 1982

25+ members Ages 25 & up, For women of different ages who attend Sunday School alone. Bible study and current daily-life issues, strong support of church and member needs. Active participation in needs of the church and community such as Second Helpings, mission trip, and Inter-Faith Hospitality. Monthly socials, potluck dinners, picnics, brunches, and a Christmas party.

Married and single members from a wide variety of occupations and interests consider topical series from social issues to Bible studies. Monthly socials. Members are active in church projects such as Boy Scouts, Second Helpings, Mom's Meals, and Habitat for Humanity.

A class for both couples and singles. Primary focus of lessons is on Bible study with discussion participation encouraged. Social activities supplement the Sunday class fellowship.

PATHFINDERS

75 couples Ages 40s & above, ageless

Focusing on contemporary issues and Bible studies with rotation of teaching duties and special guests. This class of couples with school and college aged children deepens friendship and support with regular family get-togethers and other fellowship opportunities.

GENERATIONS
Parlor

60 members Ages primarily 30s-50s

The Generations Class is intergenerational in nature and, thus, the name of the class “Generations”. Ages of class members run from the 20's to 70's, but are primarily 30's through 50's. The class is taught by Robin Lock, emphasizing studies on major Christian beliefs as they pertain to challenging issues in our life today.

Mostly couples with school-aged children , centers on applying faith and Christian principles in daily life; led by a rotation of teachers. Monthly socials, with and without children along, foster close friendships in their class.

FOCUSED LIVING

The class has singles and couples. Class topics will provide a dynamic evaluation and perspective on the responsibilities and opportunities of the many roles of middle adults: vocation, family, and community. One of our newest classes, always welcoming new members.

SENIOR ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES 
CANTERBURY
Room 25
Est. 1939
19 members Ages 50-80

Canterbury is one of First Methodist's earliest established classes and one of the most caring. A teacher leads Bible and other book studies. The group has parties and an Easter breakfast. Some members are single.

FIFTY-FIFTY
Meets in Chapel
Est. 1932
25 members Ages 70s and up

A singles and couples class for retired persons with convenient chapel access for seniors. The group relies on an alternating core of teachers presenting lessons from the Adult Bible Studies.

FRIENDSHIP

60+ members Mostly retired

Four permanent teachers, but all members work together, rotating lessons from the Adult Bible Study Series. Contributions to missions are stressed and well supported, as well as involvement in most facets of First Methodist's church life. Semi-annual socials.

HI ROBINSON

Begun in 1954 by Dr. & Mrs. H.I. Robinson, as a young couples class, this class has evolved through the years. Members now have grown children and many grandchildren. An active class of couples and singles taught by a rotation of teachers using the Adult Bible Series and special topics. Quarterly socials are well attended. All age groups are welcome.

HOMEBUILDERS

87 members Ages 60s & up

Guests and permanent teachers lead the Adult Bible Series and other topics of choice in this class of adults with grown children. Brunches every other month, plus 4 to 6 socials annually.

McMILLAN

72 members Ages 50s plus]

Emphasizes faith in daily living. Lessons on Bible study, book reviews, and current issues taught by a rotation of teachers. Socials supplement fellowship in this class of warmth and closeness.

QUESTERS

Women 50s-80s

This class for women meets monthly for luncheons and on Sunday uses the Adult Bible Study. Teachers are secured from the teacher resource within the church and outside guests also lead the discussions.

RAFTERS

Men 50s-90s

Some men in the Rafter class have wives in Questers, but singles also make up this class. Current selected teachers lead lessons from the Adult Bible Series. Socials such as ice cream suppers and barbecues help members extend their fellowship outside of Sunday mornings.

CONTEMPORARY SINGLES
Room 305
Ages mid 40s & up

Sunday School lessons focus on relating Scripture to every day life. Lessons center on issues decided upon by the class as a whole. In addition, members enjoy Sunday lunches after the 10:50am worship service; socials like game nights, the Symphony, football parties, and a Wednesday lunch bunch.

TWELVE-STEP SCRIPTURE

All ages/ married and single

Class members engage in discussions of addiction-related topics with different 12-Step materials covered throughout the year. Class focus is on spirituality in recovery, living with problems, and every day struggles as they relate to the Scriptures. Several social gatherings each year.

Join us for Real-World Christianity- our Sunday School that deals with life, love, meaning, and God in Room 304- or join us for activities throughout the week.

FRIENDSHIP SINGLES

Singles of any age are welcome, but our membership consists primarily of people in their 40's and 50's who are faced with building a meaningful life as a single person. Many of our members have not previously been affiliated with a Sunday School class. A major goal is to provide a means for spiritual and emotional growth through support, love, and fellowship. This is a discussion class, in which members are free to participate, offer opinions and share experiences.
