South Plains Food Bank Food Vouchers

FUMC screens clients to determine eligibility and issues 25 vouchers per week to be redeemed for food boxes from the SPFB. The South Plains Food Bank prepares pre-made food boxes: A food box (which will supplement with groceries for a family of four and under for about two weeks).  Boxes are packed from available supplies which include: staples, canned and dry goods, and frozen goods.

This program operates every Monday in the Outreach Center at FUMC from 9:45 am to 11:30 am.

In December, funds for SPFB Christmas Food Boxes are raised. These donations will purchase a family two weeks worth of food and a special Christmas meal. The family will receive a dry food box, can food box, fresh produce, frozen food and a turkey or a ham.

Schools are closed during the Christmas break and many children will not have food available to them except for the food provided by your donation.

Donate through the mail, at church or online towards this heart warming program and volunteer your time. Write Christmas Food Boxes on the memo line. The employees of the SPFB team up with FUMC volunteers to distribute 1,000-1,400 vouchers to hungry and deserving families.  Vouchers will be distributed from the FUMC Outreach Center on the following dates and times:

Monday, December 3, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Wednesday, December 5, 4:30-7:00 p.m.

On December 15, 2018, members of FUMC and their families gather at the SPFB to hand out Christmas Food Boxes.  The shift is from 8:30 a.m. to noon. It is truly rewarding and a great team building experience with your family and friends. You do not want to miss out on this day!
