The Orpheus Chamber Singers is the premier
professional choir in North Texas, committed to seeking out, developing, and showcasing top choral artists from across North Texas and on creating programming that represents excellent choral music from around the world. Orpheus also works to inspire the next
generation of choral artists by providing lessons, masterclasses, competitions, and scholarships to high school students.


All Saints Concert

Sunday, November 2, 2025 | 5:00 p.m.

his concert commemorating the Feast of All Saints serves as a prayer for the repose of the souls of the dead as well as a celebration of the saints in heaven. The FUMC Chancel Choir, chamber orchestra, and organ presents Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, Op. 9. Published in 1947, this work masterfully blends the timeless melodies of Gregorian chant with the luscious harmonies of French impressionism and the compositional discipline of the neoclassical movement.

Sunday, February 1, 2026 | 5:00 p.m.

Winner of the First Prize and Audience Prize at the 2022 American Guild of Organists’ National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance (NYACOP), James Kealey is a young artist of great distinction who has appeared in recital in England, the U.S.A., and in Europe. He is a candidate for the Doctor of Music Arts degree at the Eastman School of Music in the studio of David Higgs. Kealey also serves as Co-Director of Music & Fine Arts at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church outside Philadelphia, PA.


Aruna quartet

Sunday, March 1, 2026 | 5:00 p.m.

Evoking bagpipes, fiddles, deep sea creatures and everything in between, the Aruna Quartet performs programs of new music and original arrangements. The quartet leverages the chameleon nature of the saxophone to present a tasting menu of sounds to their audience. The Aruna Quartet has been awarded prizes at numerous national and international competitions including the Gold Medal and Grand Prize at the 46th Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.

Sunday, April 19, 2026 | 5:00 p.m.

Featuring music faculty from five different colleges and universities across Texas, the Texas Chamber Winds embody the essence of artistry and collaboration in music-making. Recent performances at international events, including a concert tour in Brazil, have left audiences thrilled. The ensemble takes pride in presenting spirited performances that showcase masterful selections from the classical era to the modern.


God Shed His Grace on Thee: A Patriotic Festival

Thursday, July 2, 2025 | 6:30 p.m.

This well-loved, annual concert honors America and salutes those who serve in our military and its veterans. Featuring talented musicians from our community, FUMC Chancel Choir is joined by the Lubbock Concert Band in a showcase of America’s favorite anthems. Wave the flag, wear red, white, and blue, and stay afterward for hot dogs and ice cream.


ABOUT THE VESPER CONCERT SERIES

For over 46 years, the Vesper Concert Series has presented the finest musicians from around the world and our community as a ministry to Lubbock and the South Plains. Past performers include Chanticleer, the Choir of Clare College–Cambridge, Gerre Hancock, the Kiev Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, The Kings Singers, John Rutter, John Scott, the Choir of St. Thomas Church–New York City, Frederick Swann, the Vienna Boys Choir, Sir David Willcocks, and the Tallis Scholars. 

All Vesper Concerts are open to the public free of admission with open registration for provided childcare. Post-concert receptions hosted by the Vesper Concert Committee are wonderful opportunities for fellowship among guest artists and our community.
